Philly Joe’s suve residendiprogramm annab platvormi Eesti noortele tegijatele jazzimaastikul! Uued kooslused, värvikad kavad ja võimalus kuulda jazzi ja selle mõjutustega rütmimuusikat igal kontsertõhtul uuest küljest - seda kõike pakuvad välja valitud artistid nädalast nädalasse terve suve jooksul.
Augustis jagavad residentuuri trummar Marten Männa ja pianist Mikk Kaasik, kes toovad publikuni iga nädal eri teemade ja koosseisudega projekte. Esinejaid kuuleb terve kuu jooksul kolmapäevadel (07.08, 14.08, 21.08 ja 28.08).
“Fusion Confusion”
Ansambel Some Times lõpetab oma suvise residentuuri korraliku kräuga! Punkti asemel pannakse oma residentsarja viimasele õhtule otsa mitu hüüumärki ja küsimärki, sest Marten Männa ja Mikk Kaasiku duoga on liituvad terve posu samasuguseid hullumeelseid muusikuid. Kuulda saab koosluse muusikat võimsamalt kui kunagi varem!
Some Times on Eesti muusikamaastikul kanda kinnitav ansambel, mis sündis Marten Männa ja Mikk Kaasiku koostööst. Esimest korda kirjutas duo muusikat Uno Naissoo nimeliseks heliloomingu konkursiks, mille nad ka 2025. aasta kevadel looga “Oddly Even” võitsid. Noorte vaheline muusikaline klapp oli nii hea, et lisaks esimesele loole on valmis küpsenud paarkümmend uut lugu, mida saab kuulda nende augustis toimuval kontserdiseerial. Ansambli Some Times (eesti keeles “mõned ajad”) looming nihutab traditsioonilisi rütmimuusika piire ning pakub igale kuulajale midagi uut. Nende muusika on tugevalt inspireeritud erinevate jazz fusion ja funk bändide poolt nagu Snarky Puppy, Sungazer, Dirty Loops, Knower jpm.
Marten Männa on trummar ja multiinstrumentalist, kes on vallutamas Eesti muusikamaastikku tormilise kiirusega. 2024. aasta sügisel võitis ta prestiižika Round Table konkurssi. Sõbrad on kirjeldanud Martenit kui “kõige energilisem trummar, kellega ma kunagi mänginud olen” ning ta paistab silma oma lahtise kõrva, voolava loovuse ja kindla käega. Praegu kirjutab ta hoogsalt uut muusikat ning on tõusev täht muusikamaailmas, kellel on kõik eeldused jätta Eesti jazzmaastiku radadele endast püsiv jälg.
Mikk Kaasik on noor jazzpianist Eestist, kes andis 2024. aasta suvel välja oma debüütalbumi "Take One". See instrumentaalalbum, mis ühendab endas jazzi, fusioni ja funki, peegeldab noorte muusikute toorest energiat ja nooruslikku elujõudu. Andekal muusikul on taskust võtta ka Uno Naissoo nimelise heliloomingu konkursi võit looga “Rapid Resonance”, mis seisab uhkelt ka debüütalbumi ridades. Aastal 2025 võitis ta Eesti Jazzliidu poolt välja antava Noore Jazzitalendi auhinna. Mikk on võtnud kindla sammu Eesti jazzmaastiku radadele ning ansambel Some Times on vaid üks näide sellest.

The Philly Joe’s Summer Residency programme provides a platform for talented young Estonian artists on the jazz scene! New ensembles, colourful programs and the opportunity to hear jazz and music with its influences from a new perspective on every concert evening - all this is offered by selected artists, week after week throughout the summer.
In August, drummer Marten Männa and pianist Mikk Kaasik will share their residency, bringing projects with different themes and lineups to the audience every week. The performers will be heard on Wednesdays throughout the month (07.08, 14.08, 21.08 ja 28.08).
“Fusion Confusion”
The band Some Times will be ending its summer residency with a bang! Instead of a full stop, the last night of their residency series will be marked with several exclamation points and question marks, because the duo of Marten Männa and Mikk Kaasik will be joined by a whole bunch of similarly crazy musicians. You will hear the music of the group more powerful than ever before!
Some Times is a young band establishing itself on the Estonian music scene, born from the collaboration of Marten Männa and Mikk Kaasik. The duo first wrote music for the Uno Naissoo composition competition, which they also won in the spring of 2025 with the song "Oddly Even". The musical connection between the young people was so good that in addition to the first song, they have prepared about twenty new ones, which can be heard at their concert series in August. The work of the band Some Times pushes the boundaries of traditional rhythm music and offers something new to every listener. Their music is strongly inspired by various jazz fusion and funk bands such as Snarky Puppy, Sungazer, Dirty Loops, Knower, etc.
Marten Männa is a drummer and multi-instrumentalist who is taking the Estonian music scene by storm. In the fall of 2024, he won the prestigious Round Table competition. Friends have described Marten as “the most energetic drummer I have ever played with” and he stands out with his open ear, flowing creativity and steady hand. He is currently writing new music at a rapid pace and is a rising star in the music world who has all the prerequisites to leave a lasting mark on the Estonian jazz scene.
Mikk Kaasik is a young jazz pianist from Estonia who released his debut album "Take One" in the summer of 2024. This instrumental album, which combines jazz, fusion and funk, reflects the raw energy and youthful vitality of young musicians. The talented musician also won the Uno Naissoo composition competition with the song “Rapid Resonance”, which also stands proudly in the ranks of his debut album. In 2025, he won the Young Jazz Talent Award from the Estonian Jazz Association. Mikk has taken a firm step into the Estonian jazz scene, and the band Some Times is just one example of this.
