Novembrikuu pimedat aega tervitades toob UperKuut Record Store ühe eriliselt hilisõhtuse kontserdi Philly Joe’s klubisse! Lava vallutab Muriel Grossmann Quartet koos kohaliku legendiga Tõnu Naissoo, et tuua publikuni kõige plahvatuslikum ja spirituaalsem jazzi elamus!
Multiinstrumentalisti ja heliloojat Muriel Grossmanni on nimetatud moodsa spirituaalse jazzi meistriks ning tegu on naisega, kes on olnud 21. sajandi alguse kütkestavamate ja emotsionaalselt resonantsemate jazzalbumite taga. Alt-, sopran- ja tenorsaksofoni meister Grossmann ühendab elava mängu kompositsioonidega, mis on spetsiaalselt kirjutatud tema kaasmuusikute tugevuste esiletõstmiseks. Need teosed peegeldavad kohta, kus post-Coltrane'i modalism kohtub spirituaalse post-bopi ja eksperimentaalsusega, dikteerides mängu ja heliloominguga uusi reaalsusi.
Murieli loomingu maagiat saab kuulda plaatidel nagu Jack White'i Third Man Recordsi alt 2023. aastal ilmunud „Devotion“ ja 2024. aastal RR Gems Recordsi alt ilmunud „The Light Of the Mind“. Grossmanni ulatuslik salvestuskataloog sisaldab klassikat nagu „Golden Rule“, „Reverence“ ja „Universal Code“. Tema tugevus ei mahu aga ainult salvestusstuudio valdkonda – see ärkab tõeliselt ellu laval!
Grossmanni uusima albumi „Breakthrough“ (2025) muusika teenib midagi sügavamat kui heli. See ei ole valgustatuse poole liikumise, vaid selginemise heli. Millegist lahtilaskmise heli. Struktuuri illusioon. Ootuse haare.

On this special November evening UperKuut Record Store will present Muriel Grossmann Quartet featuring local star Tõnu Naissoo on keyboards to deliver the most explosive and spiritual experience of jazz!
Multi-instrumentalist and composer Muriel Grossmann has been hailed as the master of modern spiritual jazz and is responsible for some of the most musically evocative and emotionally resonant jazz albums of the early 21st century. Grossmann, adept on alto, soprano, and tenor saxophones combines spirited playing with compositions written specifically to showcase the strength of her collaborators. These works reflect the place where post-Coltrane modalism meets spiritual post-bop and experimentalism dictating new realities with her playing and composing.
The magic of Muriel’s work can be heard on records such as ‘Devotion’ released on Jack White's Third Man Records in 2023 and ‘The Light Of the Mind’ from 2024 (RR Gems Records). Grossmann’s extensive recorded catalogue includes such classics as ‘Golden Rule’, ‘Reverence’ and ‘Universal Code’. However, her strength cannot be contained within the realm of the recording studio - it truly comes to life on stage!
The music on Grossmann’s latest album “Breakthrough” (2025) is in service of something deeper than sound. This music is not the sound of building towards enlightenment, but of clearing. The vibe of letting something fall away. The illusion of structure. The grip of expectation.
